Shakespeare told us to “beware the ides of March” but we always look forward to this month. There’s so much going on in the studio!
We are in our third and final trimester. Our first focus is on celebrating individual and group growth. By this point, dance students at all levels are able to put together sequences of steps they didn’t know in September! With the end-of-year recital just ten weeks away, our second focus is musicality. We teach our dancers to listen to the music, as it usually tells us how to “tell the story” with our whole bodies. Developing a strong sense of musicality will help dancers feel confident on stage.
Musicality is also an element of Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) exams, and we’re pleased to announce that we have our exam date: An RAD examiner will be at the studio to conduct exams on Tuesday, March 25. Morning barre, Tiny Toes, and afternoon ballet classes will be cancelled. Beginning tap will run as regularly scheduled, from 5:45-6:30 p.m. Exam students have received information from Miss Ann about mock exams the afternoon of Saturday, March 15.
Our tappers will get to showcase their growth when they perform at the Inland Northwest Dance Association DanceFest on Saturday, March 22! Miss Angie has shared details about the performance with her beginning and intermediate tap families. Everyone is invited to this free event that celebrates dance in our region.
Please remember that picture day is Saturday, March 8, and that you will need to register in advance. Individual pictures are not mandatory. If you need an alternative time, please let us know and we’ll connect you with our photographer, Scott Martinez.
Our summer program is open for registration, and our website is updated with this information. Scroll down for the schedule and links to registration form.
You can get a taste of what our summer camps are like at Beauty and the Beast Ballet Camp on Saturday, April 19! We’ll have a 2-hour daytime camp for dancers 3-6 and a nighttime Dancer’s Night In for children ages 7-11. Scroll down for more details and to register!
This is your last call to register for our 5-week adult tap workshop with Miss Angie, to be held Mondays in March. Scroll down for the link to register!
And if all of this is making you feel a little stressed out, we invite you to a relaxing and rejuvenating sound bath with Miss Sara on Wednesday, March 19. If you’ve never experienced a sound bath before, you’re in for a treat!
