January Newsletter

We hope all of our dance students have enjoyed their winter break are excited to resume classes in the studio on Monday, January 6.

2025 has arrived, and that makes our end-of-year recital that much closer! On Monday, May 19, our show begins at 6:00 p.m., but all dancers need to report at 2:30 for a dress rehearsal. (Many more details to follow!) Prior to the recital day dress rehearsal, we have a dress rehearsal on Saturday, May 3 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Spokane (again, more details to follow!). Please note that these dates are always at the bottom of every newsletter for your reference.

Our volunteer coordinator, MacKenzie, will send out a call for rehearsal and recital volunteers in a couple months, but we also need help with stagecraft this year. If you have expertise and/or interest in building sets for Beauty and the Beast, please reply to this email to let us know.

This month there are no classes Monday, January 20 in honor of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. At the end of this month, from January 27 - February 1, we will have our second spirit week of the year. The theme is “silly socks and wacky locks” — just something goofy to help us through the winter blahs and celebrate dancing together!

Next month we have a lot to pack into a short month (check the very bottom of this email for upcoming dates), but registration is open now for Frozen Ballet Camp and our new Tiny Toes class. Scroll for more details!

As a reminder, ballet dancers need to wear their dress code-aligned leotards to class. They may wear a warmup layer, such as a dancer sweater, but older dancers should prepare to dance in just their leotard and tights after barre. This allows them to focus on proper alignment of the spine and arms as they dance.

SAVE THE DATE!

Tuesdays, February 26 - April 1 | 10:45-11:15 a.m.

We have so many little sisters and brothers who want to dance that Miss Stephanie will be offering a six-week “Tiny Toes” class for children 18 months to 3 years and their caregiver. Registration is now open! Please feel free to share with friends. :)

Gratefully,

Ann & Stephanie
